G-SHOCK'S WORLD TOUR 2009 came to a conclusion at the ageHa nightclub in the Shin-Kiba area of Tokyo. With over 15 large and small bars and dance halls, ageHa is one of Japan's largest clubs. The club also boasts unique sound and lighting systems designed to create a heightened-reality.
Maybe it had something to do with where the venue was, but on the day of the event, there was a strong wind and it was cold enough to snow. Thirty minutes before the event started, however, a steady flow of excited event-goers began to gather at the club. After having their IDs checked at the front, event-goers were immediately confronted by the numerous G-Shock artworks that had been set up between the entrance and the island-bar.
Along with G-SHOCK MAN action figures, the well-organized displays featured artist-produced G-SHOCK movies and illustrations, World Tour collaboration watches, as well as new G-SHOCK products. The eye-popping works commanded the attention of all who came.
The clock rounded 10:00pm and the long-awaited event began. The audience seemed intent on thawing out their bodies that had frozen from the cold, cheering from the start and quickly bringing the party to life. The four halls used for the event were, the "ARENA", "LOUNGE", "Pool". and "TENT". The audience-friendly arrangement allowed party-goers to go from room to room as they pleased and enjoy the various DJs to the full extent.
At midnight, all the rooms were completely packed and the mood peaked as people began going into an almost trance-like state. Some danced with wild-abandon, some became so excited they screamed, and some took short-breaks at the food area. Everyone enjoyed themselves in their own way.
December 2009... According to the calendar, everyone is supposed to be wrapped up in preparing for the new year. But not so at ageHa. The place was surprisingly full of excitement as audience members and artists all let loose as if they were trying to shake off all the misfortunes and resentments from 2009. And thus the 2009 G-SHOCK WORLD TOUR came to its conclusion.
