With over 2.6 million people, Taipei is both the largest city in Taiwan and the capital of the Republic of China. G-Shock's SHOCK THE WORLD TOUR party was held in the Onyx room at the LUXY nightclub, located in the heart of one of East Asia's foremost cities on the 5th and 6th floors of a building linked to Zhongxiao Dunhua Station.
LUXY's Onyx Room was completely redecorated for the event, held on January 15th. G-SHOCK panels were set up along the walls leading from the 5th floor entrance to the main hall. The latest G-SHOCK models and collaboration watches were displayed all around the bar. Everything had been done to ensure that event goers wouldn't be able to help from getting caught up in the excitement.
The preparation must have paid off. Representatives from more than 55 media outlets showed up for the 3:00pm press conference. The conference featured a presentation by Mr. G-SHOCK, Kikuo Ibe, along with interviews and photo sessions with artists and representatives from stores that have connections with G-Shock. There was also a competition with high-end prizes that got everyone fired up.
The conference ended and then, five and a half hours later, starting at 10:00pm, everyone regrouped at LUXY's Onyx room for the party. It was a jam packed evening that included a BMX performance, sessions with DJ Reason and DJ Cookie, and a live performance by popular Taiwanese artist, Allen Wes. Amazingly, it turns out more than 2,000 people showed up for the event. Even G-SHOCK'S SHOCK THE WORLD staff was blown away by the turn out.
The waves of people kept on coming, filling the place with excitement as the G-SHOCK celebration continued throughout the night.
