The World Tour arrived in Berlin, capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. An old and historical city, Berlin has a population of over 3.4 million people and is the center of German politics. The Admiralspalast, constructed in 1873, was selected as the venue.
It was unusually cold on the day of the event as the first snow of the season fell. Despite the unfortunate weather, however, passers-by, exhaling white breath, were captivated by the unfamiliar scene of the G-SHOCK banner hanging from the 2nd story of the Admiralspalast and the billboard in front of the entrance. G-Shock's "Shock the World" displays inside the Admiralspalast were also extremely popular with the guests, many of whom were members of the press. They oohed and aahed over the ice-based artworks, the life-size G-SHOCK MAN character, and the local collaboration watches.
In keeping with Germany's reputation for punctuality, the conference began at 9pm on the dot. After Mr. Schroeder, Division Manager of Casio Europe, gave a marketing presentation, he handed the floor over to the man who developed G-Shock, Mr. Ibe, who described the "Birth of G-Shock". Taking a novel approach this time, the European sumo champion was invited to come trample on a G-Shock in front of the audience. There was thunderous applause as the G-Shock withstood the trampling and kept on ticking. Later on, Red Bull Air Race competitor, Matthias Dolderer, and other local ambassadors fired up the crowd as they passionately paid their respects to G-Shock.
The subsequent afterparty featured performances and live music from major artists, including the one-and-only, all-time most powerful, as well as the all-time smallest, MC, Lady Sovereign. Event-goers were completely ecstatic as artists who've dominated the European club scene made their appearances. The place generated enough excitement to melt the season's first snow.
